New Zealand born and raised Japanese violinist, Shauno Isomura completed his studies under the tutelage of Stephen Larsen and chamber music by Edith Salzman at the University of Auckland. Following the conclusion to his studies and success through competitions, he was invited to perform concerts in countries including Italy, Austria, USA, Australia, Germany, Malta, and concert tours in Japan, China and New Zealand. He is also the leader and forming member of the Mazzoli Trio - a string trio named in honor of acclaimed American composer Missy
 
His recent tours include a tour with Chamber Music New Zealand as the lead violinist of the Pettman Quintet - touring alongside the New Zealand String Quartet in 2016, and then again under Chamber Music New Zealand as the Mazzoli Trio in 2018. In 2017, Shauno and his brother Kent embarked on the Tsunami Violin Concert Tour which attracted a full house audience in the Auckland Town Hall Concert Chamber. This was a 100% charity concert tour presented by Shauno and older brother Kent Isomura (pianist), dedicated to the victims of the 2011 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. A tour featuring an all Japanese composer programme including works by Toru Takemitsu, Yasushi Akutagawa, Akira Ifukube and more. The tour was followed by the Japan Tour which was held in Tokyo, Hokkaido, Yamada-machi, Naoshima, and in the Okayama Renaiss Hall where they performed a joint recital together with Hiroko Kondo - Concert Mistress of Okayama Philharmonic Orchestra. There they performed the world premiere of JI (2018) by Chinese/New Zealand composer Xu Tang. In 2019 the Isomura Brothers were engaged as the residency artist at the Capital Normal University Conservatory of Music, South China Normal University School of Music and South China University of Technology School of Music, holding multiple seminars, workshops, masterclass, and performing recitals of music by Japanese, Chinese and New Zealand composers. There they performed a world premiere of Inquietude (2019), a duo work by A.Prof Yao Chen of Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing.
 
Shauno has huge interest in contemporary music, and has made collaborations with numerous composers around the globe including Missy Mazzoli (USA), Elena Kats-Chernin (Australia), Michiru Oshima (Japan), Benyamin Nuss (Germany), World premiere of works by Gareth Farr (NZ), Yao Chen (China), Xu Tang (NZ), Noriyuki Iwadare (Japan) and New Zealand premieres of works by Japanese composer Yasushi Akutagawa, Akira Ifukube, Kuniyuki Takeuchi, Takayuki Hattori.

His interest in performing contemporary music does not only remain within the boundaries of the classical field. In 2019 he was involved as the concert master and orchestral organizer for A New World -Intimate music from Final Fantasy-, a concert which marked his first collaboration with German virtuoso pianist Benjamin Nuss. Benyamin and Shauno went onto record a full duo album together in 2020 of music by Noriyuki Iwadare. The album consisted of Iwadare's digital and symphonic music arranged for piano and violin duo setting by renowned composers including Michiru Oshima ('Memories' from Hilary Hahn 24 Pieces, From Far East by Ravel Quartet), Ryotaro Yagi (Arranger of Tokyo Symphony, Tokyo Philharmonic), Eric Roth (Director of A New World) among others. In 2019 Shauno also acted as the concert master and orchestral manager in the 'Hugh Jackman Tour' performing to more than 20,000 people over 2 days in the spark arena. 
 
Shauno is a prize winner in numerous national and international competitions including the Salzburg Grand Prize Virtuoso International String Competition (Winner), 2014, 2015, 2016 Chamber Music New Zealand Music Society Competition (Winner) , 2010 APO National Young Performers Competition (Winner), 2013 University of Auckland Concerto Competition (Winner), 2016 Pettman Concerto Auckland Competition (Winner), American Fine Arts Festival International Competition (Winner), the Australian International Music Festival (Gold Award), Vivo-International Music Competition, Salut International Music Competition (2nd Place) to name a few. His International competition success has brought him invitations to perform in Austria & Italy in 2016 and the Weill Recital Hall - Carnegie Hall in 2017. He is also recipient of the Dame Malvina Foundation Arts Excellence Award, the Carl Alberta Rosenfeldt Prize, the Birmingham Wallace Emerging Artists Prize, and was a NZSO Fellowship Scholar in 2015.

Shauno's recent projects include a series of albums. One of them being a duo album with German pianist Benyamin Nuss and the other being an album of string quartet and trio works by acclaimed American composer Missy Mazzoli - to be released by Rattle Records from New Zealand.
