There has been a collaboration project that I have been building together behind the scenes with a certain composer, pianist and a french record label for the past year - and on the 12th and 13th was the recording session!
Inviting my dear friend and incredible pianist Benyamin Nuss from Germany, together we recorded exclusively arranged music of Japanese video game composer legend Noriyuki Iwadare for violin & piano duo. Who composed some of the most well known Japanese video games such as GRANDIA, LUNAR, LANGRISSER and many more.
Joining us on the first day of the recording session was John Kim who served as the recording engineer for the whole two days and Composer and Concert Producer Eric Roth who flew all the way from the USA along with Benyamin - he actually arranged one of the tracks of the album for us!
Starting at 10:30am and ending at 10:00pm - we had some intensive recording sessions but great ones! Some fantastic arrangements by incredible composers from the contemporary classical, film, jazz, video game field as well as emerging composers from New Zealand.
In between the recording sessions we drove up to Radio NZ for an interview with David Morris on RNZ Concert - Upbeat programme talking about video game music. This interview will be up online at one point too :) Looking forward to hear it myself!
